Match Report - 09 Aug 2011, St Francis Rangers FC 1st Team beat Broadbridge Heath

Half time 2-1.

Scorers: Cooper, Mitchel, Gacias

Rangers held on to win their final pre season match but will be disapointed with the second half showing.

Having taken an early lead when a neat move saw Pamment cross deep to Cooper to flick home at the back post, hitting the ball back across the keeper.

B Heath were holding their own and debutant Burdock had to be alert when diving low to his left and tipping the ball just round the post.

The game was very congested as Rangers played with little width in the first period.

Mitchel turned inside but was disposessed only to get a lucky break of the ball. He took full advantage by smashing home from 25 yards, a rifling shot.

Just before half time Heath were awarded a penalty after Hollick gave the ball away cheaply, Akehust clumsily pulled down the Heath forward int he box.

The first half was a disjointed affair with eh Rangers front 2 takign too many touches and turning inside too much rather then playing back to the midfield. The back 4, except the lively Dodds, were too casual and lacked real intensity in their play.

The second half started brighter and Rangers extended their lead when Gacias drilled home from 20 yards. It involved some neat play down the right, helped by the position of Cooper who, although not directly involved opened up the pitch for Archer to push into the box.

Daley Cark came on and was instantly involved making some excellent breaks from midfield. Unfortunately minutes later he took a major knock to the head and was knocked out cold. After about 5 minutes he managed to walk off but with little memory of his appearance!

The rest of the half was a forgetable one for Rangers as they gifted the ball away with some atrocious passing. This led to Heath taking grasp of the game and they got a second when a free kick was superbly drilled in to the near post and headed home past a stranded Burdoch.

Rangers could simply not string 2 passes together and the game ended with a lot of frustration.

Hopefully the boys will up the intensity in the next game, our first league game at Arundel.
