Match Report - 02 Sep 2011, St Francis Rangers FC Reserve Team drew with Hassocks

A Louis Pople hat tick earned Rangers a well deserved point.

Hassocks looked the stronger at the start of each half but each time Rangers finished better.

The best early chance came after a great cross from Pople saw Lambert miss a sitter from 6 yards.

Hassocks looked lively down the left and this create their first goal. The winger beat three weak tackles and cross for Thomas to loop his headed home.

Minutes later a similar goal for Hassocks as another looped header crept in.

Pople gave Rangers a lifeline on the half hour when a long range free kick was drilled home, although the visiting keeper would have been disappointed.

Then Rangers drew level when a penalty, awarded for handball, was converted by Pople.

A good, eventful first half ended 2-2.

Hassocks started second half much brighter and retook the lead on the hour. Duke gave away possession, Maskell was caught out of position and the striker got in between and slid the ball past Gannon.

Rangers hit back and got another equalizer when Pople completed his hat trick with his best goal of the night. He brilliantly turned his man and slotted home across the keeper.

Overall a draw was a fair result. Rangers played the better football but Hassocks were more direct and deserved their point.

MOM- John White had an excellent game but it has to go to Louis Pople for his hat trick and excellent overall game
